Head to head

Larpify.me vs larpify.pro

Similar names, different products, and — once you look at the monthly price — a bigger gap than either site lets on. One is a single Shopify screen on a device-locked licence. The other is a stack of apps on an account.

larpify.pro

Paid Shopify analytics simulator · PWA

$30 / month

Also $10 a week or $100 once. Crypto only, against a licence key, capped at 1, 2 or 3 devices depending on the tier. Everything on this page about larpify.pro comes from what it publishes about itself — the sources are listed at the bottom.

Not us: larpify.pro is not us and we are not affiliated with it. Larpify.me is the only site we operate, and every account, payment and support address on this page belongs to it.

Give larpify.pro its due, because the thing it makes is good. The Shopify mobile dashboard is a close replica, it installs to a home screen as a PWA, the store name and branding are yours to set, and it fires simulated order notifications with the product, buyer, location and amount you choose. If a Shopify phone screenshot is the entire job, it does that job well.

Where the comparison turns is the invoice. larpify.pro is not a free tool — it is $10 a week, $30 a month or $100 once, paid in crypto against a licence key that is locked to one, two or three devices depending on which tier you bought. Our Pro plan is $19.99 a month. That is $10.01 a month less for 3 apps instead of one, on as many devices as you care to sign in on.

So this is not the usual free-versus-paid argument. Both of you are paying. The question is only what the money buys, and how much of your setup you still own when the licence runs out.

Price for price

Neither of these is the free one

Both products are paid, on the same three shapes of plan, so they compare directly. Every figure on our side is computed from our own pricing page; every figure on theirs is what they publish.

Both of you are paying. Here is what the money buys.

Their month costs more than our whole stack

$30 a month buys one Shopify mobile dashboard on two devices. $19.99 a month buys a crypto wallet, a store admin and a payments dashboard, plus every app we ship next, on as many devices as you sign in on. That is $10.01 a month less for 3 times the surface area. On the weekly tier the gap widens: $520 over a year against our $239.88.

The same $100, for very different amounts of product

Both lifetimes are $100, which is the one place the headline numbers agree. Theirs is the Shopify dashboard, on three devices, forever. Ours is 3 apps today, the 4 in build when they land, everything after that, on any device you sign in on, with your setups held in the account rather than in one browser. Same price, and it is not a close comparison.

A licence key is not an account

A device-locked key with no email attached means there is no receipt, no card statement line to point at, no billing portal, and no way to move to a new phone with your setup intact — their own Privacy Policy puts the simulated store data in your browser, so a cleared cache or a new laptop starts you over. Ours is Stripe: a receipt lands in your inbox, the plan is on your account page, cancelling is a button, and the persona is on the server rather than in one browser's storage.

The second screenshot is the hard one

One dashboard is fine until somebody asks the obvious follow-up. Where did the money go? Show me the payout. What does the wallet say? With a single screen the only answers are silence or a second tool whose numbers will not line up with the first. A stack answers in the same voice: the store's monthly figure, the payouts screen's volume and the wallet's balance can be set from one persona and shot in one sitting.

The posts that convert are shot on a laptop

The I-quit-my-job screenshot is almost always a browser window: a store admin with a live visitor map, or a payments dashboard with today's volume filling in hour by hour. A mobile replica cannot produce that frame no matter how good it is, because the interface it is copying does not exist in that shape. Two of our three live apps are desktop for exactly this reason, and the wallet is mobile for the same one.

Independent fields are where larps die

Set sales, orders and visitors as three separate numbers and you have three chances to pick a combination that does not exist — a $200,000 day across 40 orders is a $5,000 average order value, and somebody in your replies owns a calculator. Here you set the top-line figure and the dependent ones are derived: sales over orders, orders over sessions, every percentage off one growth number. You cannot type an impossible store because there is nowhere to type it.

The case against us

Buy theirs if

You want the Shopify phone dashboard specifically, you want it without handing anyone an email address, and the simulated order notification is the shot you have in mind. That notification trick is genuinely theirs — we do not ship one. And no account with the data held in your own browser is a real privacy advantage over what we do; we ask for an email because a persona that follows you from a laptop to a phone has to sync somewhere. If one mobile dashboard with no paper trail is the whole requirement, they built exactly that, and this page is not an argument for paying us instead.

Where it lands

The verdict

Two paid products wearing similar names. larpify.pro owns the notification trick, and buying without an email will matter to some people. Everything else runs the other way: $30 a month against $19.99, one app against 3, two devices against as many as you sign in on, a browser's local storage against an account, and a licence key against a receipt. If the larp is one Shopify screenshot on one phone, theirs is a fair buy. If it is a persona that has to hold up across more than one frame, we are cheaper per month and roughly 4.5× cheaper per app.

Questions people ask about this comparison

Is larpify.me the same company as larpify.pro?

No. We are not affiliated with larpify.pro in any way and we do not operate it. Larpify.me is the only domain we run. The similarity in the names is not something we control — check the address bar.

Isn't larpify.pro the cheaper one?

Not on the plans most people buy. Theirs is $10 a week or $30 a month; Larpify Pro is $19.99 a month for 3 apps rather than one, which works out around 4.5× cheaper per app. Over a year their weekly tier is $520 against our $239.88. The two $100 lifetimes are the only tier where the headline numbers match.

Both lifetimes are $100. What is actually different?

What the $100 covers. Theirs is the one Shopify dashboard on up to three devices. Ours is 3 apps now, the 4 in build as they ship, every app after that, no device cap, and your setups stored against the account instead of in one browser.

They do not need my email. Why do you?

Because your persona and saved setups live on our side so they can follow you between devices, and that needs something to attach them to. Signed out, nothing leaves your browser. Signed in, we hold an email address, what you have typed into the apps, and what Stripe tells us about your plan — and deleting your account deletes it. Their model is the more private one; ours is the one that survives a new laptop.

Do you fire fake order notifications too?

No. That one is theirs. Our apps are surfaces you shoot and screen-record, not notification generators, and we would rather say so than imply a feature we do not ship.
